My husband and I, 35 years-old, are going to Vietnam on December 29, 2011 for 2 weeks. We will be in Hanoi on the 30, 31, and 1st. Then we may go to Halong Bay. We'd like to know some suggestion about place to go and to do in New Year Eve since they do not celebrate it that day.
We thought it may have an international place where people from all over the world get together to celebrate it. Or may be somewhere romantic to have a nice dinner and drinks.
Any suggestions?

Yes you canfind that kind of place in Hanoi, around the center (Hoan Kien lake) there will be huge crowd gather and count down for the event. Plus there will be music and cultural show during those New Year days. The bar, pub, and hotel (big ones) will have special events. Don't worry, business are 99% running normal :) about 9 years ago

Stay at metropole. Worth the splurge. Otherwise movenpik. Not into blowing Dong, many brand new old quarter hotels can be found with 2 stars feel like 4, search on agoda.com. about 9 years ago
