You might have already figured this out or left the area, but there are two side alleys behind Bui Vien near the intersection with De Tham, right in the heart of the backpacker district. There's pretty cheap food there and all kinds of offerings from Indian to Italian to Vietnamese (of course). By far the cheapest food you'll find though is the Buhn Mi that you can get from street vendors basicaly everywhere in HCMC-- it's a baguette with various cuts of meat and for 15,000 dong (~$0.75) is a great way to fill up cheaply and quickly. about 7 years ago

Hi, you can download ho chi minh local guide at: http://www.slideshare.net/yourlocalbooking/ho-chi-minh-local-guide

I found many food restaurants or street food in this guide.

Don't forget to try Pho Quynh ( 323 Pham Ngu Lao, District 1) Open 24 hours. This is local food, local shop. But they do have English menu. The price is listed. Don't worry. This is my Favorited shop when i was in Sai Gon

Pho Bo Tai (Beef noodle soup) – 40,000 Dong (2 USD)
Banh Mi Bo Kho – 40,000 Dong
Hot Coffee with Milk – 12,000 Dong

Don't miss Mekong Delta Tour. If you have time, book 2 days tour. If you have limit time, you can book a join tour at www.yourlocalbooking.com (Join tour: 25 USD/ 1 pax). They are great! almost 7 years ago
