It shouldn't be too busy if you wait until you get there, but it's easy to book online. You can get a nice room for around US$35. I stayed at the Charm Resort in December and had a lovely time. We were a bit back from the beach, so maybe Google a few bungalows along the beach area on Dong Duong? The Trip Advisor website is excellent for recommendations and contact details for hotels.

Phu Quoc is generally a quiet island. There are lots of little restaurants and bars around in the Dong Duong area, but if you want along the beach there are bars scattered around. Near the Charm Resort there is a fantastic little restaurant where I had the most amazing fish dish ever called the Oasis Restaurant and Bar. A bit further down there is an open bar that's got a great atmosphere.

Just a tip – be careful if you decide to hire a motorbike. My fiancé and I thought it would be a good idea until we had an accident and got scammed out of US$200. We were badly injured and spent four days on the island stuck in our hotel room ordering room service and watching 30 Rock reruns :( over 11 years ago
