Hi Egathe,
I was in Hanoi in February and the weather was great, just after the wet season. We stayed at the Hanoi Moment Hotel - rooms were great for around AUD$70-80 night. over 9 years ago -
Spring or Autumn are my favorite month. Stayed at Prince Hotel for a month once. About USD35. It's really a basic B&B. There's better ones such as Conifer at about USD80. Or contact any online travel agency. Price ranges from USD25 to USD200. Have a great Hanoi vacation. over 9 years ago

We stayed at the prince also for a few nights.... Basic, but did the job and much cleaner than others.... Pancakes for breakfast also- recommended.
There are two prince hotels though, both run by the same company, we stayed at both, as we left Hanoi and went to tam coc and hue, so when we came bk we tried the other one. Ones more central and the other slightly north, but still nice to walk from into the main drag, as lots if interesting local shops to look at on route... Great place.
Go to the water puppet theatre also.... Must see tourist attraction as slightly weird and bright, but a thing you must do. over 9 years ago -
Went to Vietnam in September 2008 as part of a package tour. The weather in Hanoi was a little warm but nice. Sorry can't recommend a budget accomodation because the included hotel was the Nikko Hotel (definitely not budget). If someone can recommend a place in that area, I would suggest that. It is a good area to walk around (a park close by, the train station down the street). I agree that you should try to include the water puppets ( http://youtu.be/kDbMnqknbIg). One thing to remember--when crossing the street, don't stop! The cars will move around you. over 9 years ago
