3 days? I'd recommend Jade Emperor Pagoda which is 6 km out of District 1 and is one of the most beautiful pagodas in Ho Chi Minh. Any Cyclo can easily get you there and if you go high noon or early afternoon, the light can be fantastic: http://www.flickr.com/photos/simonmonk/sets/72157624547130445/
I'd also highly recommend the 5am morning market in Cantho which is a town in the delta, but that's a short trip of itself (although highly recommended too). over 9 years ago -
It might seem like a tourist thing to do, but the Ho Chi Minh War Museum is still quite amazing - It's located at 28 Vo Van Tan, in District 3. Also agree with Simon, the market in Cantho is stunning.
I went there first in 2002 and then last year, the changes are amazing, such a vibrant city, warm and friendly locals, can't wait to go back. over 9 years ago -
I regret not doing the Cu Chi Tunnels... I've heard good things! Other than that ... definitely want to make your way down to Can Tho to see the floating market if you've never been to one. Other than that ... eat some pho and take a ride on the cyclo to see some sites! :) over 9 years ago

If it's a hot day and you still have time, hit the Dam Sen water park. It's really well made with lots of fun slides and you'll likely be the only foreigner there. over 9 years ago

Go To Sui Thien park, there is a lot ancient chinese big tea port etc, big frog on display, remember to go below the main gate, try to wear cloth of ancient people, take photo in that old palace look environment.
For the night view at Ho Chi Minh, go to the roof top of 5 star hotel to view city view.

I spent about 5 days in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in March this year and I absolutely loved it!
My picks are the Cu Chi Tunnels, the Saigon Notre Dame Basilica and the War Remnants Museum. I also did a travel piece about 12 popular tourist sights I covered while I was there you might want to check it out to decide where to go! :)

Rent a Honda Dream and just go. The American War Crimes Museum is something everyone should see - especially Americans (of which, I am one). Cu Chi isn't too far out of town and it's definitely worth the ride north. If you take a tour, you'll miss so much. Rent the bike - it's totally worth it. over 8 years ago

I'm in Ho Chi Minh at the moment. Be aware that several of the sights close during the middle of the day, such as the Reunification Palace, War Remnants Museum, History Museum etc. They are closed from about 11:30 to 1:30.
Stuff like the pagoda remains open during this time.
Also Benh Thanh market seems to close around 5 or 6ish, I had assumed it would be open till late like all the shops, and the markets in other Vietnamese cities, but it is not so. over 8 years ago -
There are heaps of taxi scams... a company that is fair and honest is 'Vinasun'. So if you are catching any taxi's stick with them! over 8 years ago
