North or South - Subject to budget. (north) Hanoi, Sapa or Halong Bay, (cental coast) Hue & HoiAn, (south) Dalat (?), Saigon & Mekong Delta. Pick between scenic places and cultural sites. Adventurous types can take bicycle or motorbike tours. There's no way to cover north and south in 1 week. Pick one area. Getting to the airport, checking in, flight time and traveling to hotel will take most of 1 day if you want to travel between Hanoi and Saigon. about 7 years ago

All above places worth visiting but before your departure, please remember that you need a VISA to Vietnam. For your best way to obtain Vietnam visa. I suggest you should apply online at http://govietnamvisa.com/ for AIR travellers. It is very helpful and convenient to make your trip in smooth water.
