November 2012 I paid $70Aus from embassy in Sydney. I was quoted $75 when I called one time and called 2nd time was told $70 so that's what I paid. Just as easy to get it in Vietnam at airport on arrival. I saw most people doing it there but wasn't sure at time. Embassy is useless for info. Happy travels over 4 years ago

Since visa on arrival is not available for border crossing then a pre-stamped visa at Vietnam Embassy is required.
You may get your visa in one of Vietnam Embassy/ Consulate in Cambodia as follows:

    1. Embassy of Vietnam in Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Address: 436 Monivong Blvd., Khan Chamcarmon, Phnom Penh
    Phone: (855) 23 726 284
    Fax: (855) 2372 6273
    Email: vnembassy03@yahoo.com
    vnembpnh@online.com.kh

    2. Consulate General of Vietnam in Sihanouk Ville, Cambodia

Address: 310 Ekreach- Khan Mittapheap, Sihanouk City
    Phone: (855) 3493 3669
    Fax: (855) 3493 3669
    Email: tlsqsiha@camintel.com

    3. Consulate General of Vietnam in Batambang, Cambodia

Address: Road No.3, Batambang Province, CAMBODIA
    Phone: (855) 5395 2894
    Fax: (855) 5395 2894
    Email: lsqvnbat@camintel.com

If you don't want to visit the embassy or consulate many times (at least twice), a Vietnam visa code might be an option. over 4 years ago

To get a tourist visa for 30 days on a South African passport it costs R800 ie $80. This is pre arranged before leaving and is fuss free as I've done it before. over 4 years ago

You should get VOA ( vietnam visa on arrival). The price is $15/person/month and $45 for stamp fee - pay at the airport. You can see more information here: http://vietnamvisaonarrivals.com or email to info@visastovietnam.com over 4 years ago

Vaitnam visa is not so expensive its only $65 (less than 30 days) / $95 (30 day upwards).
To get your visa stamped at Vietnam airports, you pay this stamping fee directly to the Immigration Officer by cash at Immigration Desk/ Counter. I am sharing a link where you can get all detail of visiting visa. www.vietnam-visa.com/
