Any recommendations for a day of kayaking? Looking for a responsible, affordable operator. Do not want to be on a big boat tour, just really interested in the nature and caves.

You'll need to take a tour boat that will bring you to a place that rents kayaks. They'll also bring you to a cave or two to walk through. I don't think there are any kayak specialist places, unless they've been created in the last couple years. over 7 years ago

There are some places for specialist kayaking in Ha Long Bay, such as Ho Ba Ham, Luon Cave, Bright & Dark caves... For day of kayaking, the best option I know here http://vietnamcruise-tours.com/Halong-Daily-Cruise/ha-long-6-hours-cruise.html over 7 years ago

The world’s kayaking repertoire is growing. Small independent groups and expeditions are discovering places that have never been explored, so this list is always changing. The proper way to take the forward stroke is to rotate the torso rather than pushing and pulling the paddle with the arms. So rather than the arms having a pedaling motion the paddle stroke is powered by rotating of hips.
