You need at least 3 days to explore Hanoi but you can mix it up as you leave & return to Hanoi when going to Halong Bay.Hanoi is also departure point for Sapa. No, one night is not enough in Halong Bay. I advise a 3 day tour (minimum) with 1 night on a junk and 1 night on Cat Ba Island. over 6 years agoAnswered by Grant via WorldNomads.com
I think 2 days 1 night is not enough to enjoy the trip. 3 days 2 nights's better. last summer I traveled with my girl friend, we took 2 days trip to Halong bay...the cruise's name galaxy ( I got a very good time on that cruise). You should not go to Caiba island, the hotel there's bad... over 6 years ago
There are many eye-catching things to do and see in Hanoi. I think you should spend 4 days to explore Hanoi and Halong Bay. first day: Visit Ho Chi Minh mausoleum and in the afternoon, you take a cyclo to visit Hoan Kiem lake and the Old Quarter, and explore the architecture of Tran Quoc Pagoda and Quan Thanh Temple. in the evening, watch water puppet show and enjoy Pho Hanoi.
Second day, visit Ethnology Museum. many things to see and take beautiful photos. in tthe afternoon, visit Literature temple - the first university of Vietnam. In the evening, see night market in Hanoi.
third day: go to Halong Bay. I think 2 days/1 night is enough to visit Halong. overnight in cruise, visit beautiful caves, grottoes, fisher village and do KAYAK.
in the afternoon of the 4th day, come back Hanoi.
If you have more time, you can visit Bat Trang ceramic village (about 15km from Old Quarter) or spend 1 day to visit Duong Lam ancient village.
It is interesting.
we really like Hanoi, Literature Temple and take many photos in Ethnology Museum.
Have a good trip! over 6 years ago
