Flying is the quickest. You can get around Siem Reap and Angkor Wat pretty easily - when I went you could hire a bicyle as it's a really long day when you walk it.

I did it with a friend, but if you're by yourself maybe a tour group would be fun! almost 7 years ago

Very easy to fly to siem reap. Many hotels include a car and driver you can hire for your stay. If i recall it was about $30 a day, the driver spoke excellent english, and was a very knowledgeable tour guide. almost 7 years ago

If you go on a package tour, you'll miss the chance of seeing the main temple at sunrise, which would be a tragedy.

I went on my own by bus from Ho Chi Minh City to Phnom Penh, and thought the latter was worth a visit. Then I took a bus on to Siam Reap. It was a nice chance to see the Cambodian countryside, and the condition of the road was an experience in itself.

In short, I recommend DIY. almost 7 years ago

I definitely agree with the others. Do it yourself, fly or bus and hire a driver for the day ( a couple days). He will take you to the ruins, look after the day tickets for the ruins, take you to local places to eat and local stalls to buy souvineers :) all pretty inexpensively! almost 7 years ago
