La Perdiz behind the Sheraton in a residential neighborhood. Excellent menu, good for vegetarians and superb service. It is a place I could imagine easily thriving in California as much as it does in Montevideo. It's not a 'budget' place, locals with scratch come here, but by US prices and standards, it's great value. over 9 years ago

There are several good places. It all depends on what you want to eat and spend! You can have places like Ricci in Punta Carretas with a polished menu, places more touristic like La Casa Violeta in Pocitos, or La Vaca (specialised in meats), there are sort of pubs with good food wich are always packed like Burlesque in Pocitos. There are more, for instance Los Yuyos Pub in el Prado is kind of rustic but has a grappa selection that is handmade by them which are really nice!

P.S. Uruguay has 0% tolerance for alcohol in blood when driving so if you are going to drink go by taxi or Remise. over 9 years ago
