Here's a blog I wrote with my personal comparison of the two islands...but, it's just my opinion. Some people connect with Maui in the way I did with Kauai...so it's just food for thought.

Both islands are great however I think Maui had the edge personally speaking. You have the Road to Hana trip, Haleakala National Park with its volcano, the Needle and other attractions in the IOA Valley. Also Maui Ocean Centre & Aquarium, pleasure flights to the Big Island of Hawaii to view the volcano, snorkelling over reefs. While I attended a traditional Hawaiian feast called a Lua on Kauai, try to see is there any you can attend on Maui, it would be worth it. almost 7 years ago

We are currently on our second trip to Maui this year, but strange as it may sound we prefer Kauai. I think it is our personal preference for a little more laid back and less resorts. Our next trip to the islands will be back to Kauai for our tenth anniversary. All the islands are a great experience and you can't go wrong with any choice. Mahalo. almost 7 years ago
