From NYC, what to see driving up Long Island?
Planning a 2 day drive to go sight seeing in Long Island, NY. Will leave from the Bronx. What are fishing towns worth visiting? Would prefer to stay away from tourist traps. Looking for places with nice places to eat the local fare but that are not overpriced. Taking a senior citizen along so looking for suggestions that would make her walks memorable (picturesque towns, gardens and such are welcome additions). Last, please suggest any good bed and breakfast along the way. And thank you.

If you want the scenic drive to Long Island's north fork past riverhead use the north road (route 48). Gorgeous country side views. Stop at harbes or seps for great produce roadside! And don't miss the corn mazes or pumpkin picking! about 8 years ago
