The cheese shop in kings street. I love the tuna but my partner swears by the turkey sandwich. A must. They have a nice wine selection in the basement. Next door is a candy store. Kings tavern is great too. See 'cry witch', 'mama said,papa said', both night programs. about 8 years ago

Williamsburg is full of non-chain places! Great choise. I actually checked out this place for brunch the other day - really cool spot and awesome bloody mary's: Roebling Tea Room (http://nymag.com/listings/restaurant/roebling-tea-room/) about 8 years ago

if you are into japanese, try zenkichi for a cozy atmosphere. the omakase is the way to go, reservations are highly recommended about 8 years ago
