If you're really looking for something close to LaGuardia, NJ is kind of the worst option (unless you switch to Newark?). And if you're really looking for an apartment (probably in Queens), check out Padmapper (generally longer-term rentals), AirBnB or Roomorama. There's a ton of accommodations in Brooklyn and Queens cheaper than Manhattan (NB: Long Island City), but you can of course check that with all your normal travel sites like Kayak. about 7 years ago

Check out Z Hotel in Long Island City (Queens. It's very close to LaGuardia) They are reasonably priced, really nice accommodations, and extremely close to the city. It is one train stop and about 10 mon from the hotel to manhattan. Some of my friends stayed here while visiting and it was great. Also long island city is so close to manhattan it's kind of an extension of the city. There are a lot of young, creative, artistic types that lice in the neighborhood. I would highly recommend this hotel. http://zhotelny.com/ about 7 years ago

NJ is not near LGA, Astoria is the hood to be in, we have several hotels, near the 39th ave station. Very safe and you may not want to go to manhattan after you experience Astoria. Check on line for hotels. There is the verve, a best western and a holiday inn, but there are more. And LGA is only 10 minutes away by taxi! about 7 years ago
