2 places come to mind. Sarabeths on the upper west side- On Amsterdam between 80 and 81st. The Parker Meridian hotel has a restaurant that does a great breakfast. That is midtown just south of Central Park. A long time ago (25 years) I had an amazing brunch at The St Regis hotel not sure if that is still the same. about 7 years ago

Sarabeth's is good, but def not diner-style. Your best bet for diner style is to go to an actual diner. There are tons! Upper East side: Viand on 86th and 2nd or Gracie Mews on 1st btwn 81-80sts. Upper West: Cafe 82 on Broadway and 82. There are good Greek diners in just about every neighborhood. almost 7 years ago

I would suggest 7A on Avenue A & E7th Street, Life Cafe on Avenue B & E10th Street, Virage on 2nd Avenue & E7th Street, Cafeteria on 7th Avenue at W17th Street, The Diner on W14th Street & 9th Avenue, French Roast on Broadway & W85th Street, and Toast on Broadway & W105th Street. Hope this helps you. Most New Yorkers do breakfast/brunch at non-diner restaurants. almost 7 years ago
