
Any good recommendations for hotel accommodations on kauai?

I go to Kauai a lot...and, I stay away from hotels in order to capture the true essence of the island. I find my temporary home-away-from-home on www.vrbo.com. Here are two blogs to give you an idea of the experience...

Agree with avoid the hotels. A Hyatt is a Hyatt is a Hyatt...you don't know if you are in Kauai or Paris. rent a house, or a condo, or do an exchange. Talk with someone who knows the island. I wontntell you my secret place because then it may not be available to me...but everyone knows somewhere... over 9 years ago

I stayed at the Marriott Lihue. Great hotel, walking distance to lots of bars and places to eat. Very modern and clean. over 9 years ago

I lived on Kauai for four years. Avoid the east side including Lihue. The trades don't reach the area and it is hot. Keep with Poipu the south side, or the west. You can always drive to the North side where it rains ALL the time. over 9 years ago
