NYC is a safe city. But like in most big cities in the world, you do need to keep your wits about you, but you're unlikely to run in to trouble. Don't flash valuables, be aware of the neighbourhood you're in, watch for pick pockets in heavily touristy areas, etc. NYC is wonderful - enjoy it! Just came back from NYC about a week ago and had zero problems. Like mentioned before be aware of your surrounding and use common sense. I had a blast and would not be so worried. over 6 years ago

It's the same as every other place on earth, there's good areas, there's bad areas. There's good people and there's bad people.

When I was there some drunk guy started yelling at me saying he was going to shoot me, but you just take it with a pinch of salt. over 6 years ago

New York is depicted in movies as very fast-paced and busy but the local people are very warm and helpful. Walking around Manhattan is enjoyable with lots of shopping and sightseeing as well as your best choices of theater to watch.. over 6 years ago

It's not dangerous at all! Where did you hear that? Unless you go hang out in the projects, you will be just fine. over 6 years ago
