Frenchman st is the best place for music in Nola. It has a real "local" vibe & hosts the best of the cities musicians. There are a fair number of bars that u can hop in n out of. Most have covers, but there are 3/4 that are free. Others- Tipitinas, Maple Leaf, Le Bon Temps, about 7 years ago

Go to the Palm Court Jazz Cafe on the edge of the French Quarter on Decatur. A wonderful "distinguished" lady owns it and wonderful local artists play there. It's a really fun time! about 7 years ago
