I recently happened upon Vergenes, VT. Equally unplanned, I found the Strong House Inn, see http://www.stronghouseinn.com/, and had a wonderful stay. Dinner the Black Sheep Bistro, chocolate from Daily Chocolate. I love this town! almost 7 years ago

Killington / Woodstock area! Great fall foliage, shopping, activity, sports! Head up to Killington Mountain / Town for biking hiking and gondola rides in the summer and skiing and other winter sports in the winter. over 6 years ago

Really depends what you're into! Burlington is the only thing close to a city you'll find.... and it's still pretty small, but definitely a great place to visit! Lots of shops, bars, and things to do on church street, and in the general downtown area. St. Albans, Rutland, Brattleboro, are way smaller versions. If you're looking for the small town feel, the rest of Vermont is pretty much all the same lots of outdoorsy type of activities, and not a lot going on. over 6 years ago
