Cambodian food is yummier than Vietnamese, I think. NYC has a good one: Kampuchea Noodle Bar.  78-84 Rivington St @ Allen. Ratha Chau, a native Cambodian who was wine director and manager of Fleur de Sel, features street food from Southeast Asia, incl Cambodian sandwiches.
There are ok pho places in Chinatown, but I've yet to find anything stellar. My NYC list of places to check out is : http://traveleater.wordpress.com/nyc-field-notes/ over 7 years ago
