All year round!
Seriously, Maui's snorkeling is awesome and you don't need to worry about being there at the 'best time of the year'. What you need to do is be aware of the surf conditions and choose your spot accordingly. Some snorkeling spots get excellent conditions almost everyday, being protected from high surf by a reef, but most will vary on a daily basis. Make sure to check the conditions before you head to the sea (use surf forecast sites like http://omaui.com) and you should have a lot of fun snorkeling.

You can check with your concierge for visibility conditions. Molokini is one of the very best places, with visibility in the hundreds of feet on a good day. Like the Wizards Publications guides say, if you snorkel there, you will be 'spoiled for life' when you snorkel elsewhere. Except maybe Palau I guess. about 8 years ago
