I am planning a NYC trip and want to spend a lot of time at The Met. Can anyone recommend a good hotel so I can just walk to and from ?

The Dylan is a lovely hotel but not cheap, and I have stayed at the New York Helmsley and walked pretty much everywhere, including the Met, the MoMo etc. almost 7 years ago

I'd aim for something in Midtown East. Most places are walkable in midtown. If you just want to be able to walk there once, I'd base your decision more on price and proximity to public transportations for the sake of the rest of your trip. To get to the Met, you'd be walking along Fifth Avenue up into the eighties, which is a lovely route along Central Park. almost 7 years ago

But, if you want to be very close, check out the Carlyle and The Mark almost 7 years ago
