Fly into SFO. Rent a car. Drive north on the PCH, through Napa, and into the scenic northern California towns. Mendocino and Ft. Bragg are two of my favorites. Great restaurants, beautiful scenery, terrific weather. over 7 years ago

Northern Maine. Head to the Forks, Jackman or the Moosehead lake area. Nothing but beauty and wilderness. You can hike Mount Katahdin which marks the end of the Appalachian trail or raft class 5 rapids on the Kennebec, Dead or Penobscot rivers with Three Rivers rafting (accommodation, sky diving and other cool adventures too! www.threeriverswhitewater.com)

Driving in northern Maine is amazing in itself. One of few places in the lower 48 to see Moose and the people are wonderful. It's my favorite place on the planet to relax and marvel at the beauty of our wonderful country.

Post back if you are gonna go. I have tons of tips from 25 years of visiting! about 7 years ago
