Where is the best place to fly into to drive to Yellowstone and get the most sightseeing?
We are wanting to make our trip to Yellowstone be full of sightseeing. We thought of flying into Salt Lake City or into someplace in Idaho. Which would be best?

Salt Lake may be best for flights and car rental options combined with cost ( though don't know where you'd be coming in from). Do look at Bozeman or Billings though as possibilities. The nice thing about Billings is you can then dip down via Cody and approach Yellowstone from the East. Then out to the North to Bozeman making fora nice loop with plenty of access to the park. over 9 years ago

Fly into Billings and then stay at Chico Ho Springs which is about an hour away. Then to Yellowstone the next day. Chico is the best stay in Montana. over 9 years ago

Last September my wife and I flew from DFW to Jackson,WY. It was very affordable (on American, under $300 round trip), a gorgeous landing (the Grand Tetons are RIGHT THERE), and an hour and a half fromYellowstone. over 9 years ago

Fly into Billings and drive the Bear Tooth Pass. You'll get to Cooke City where Hemingway summered. In through the NE gate and see Lamar Valley with the best chance to view wolves and grizzlies. Less traffic and better views. over 9 years ago

You can actually fly directly to West Yellowstone, MT (WYS) for not much more than flying other nearby places. This is literally on the border of the park. over 9 years ago
