We're planning a driving tour beginning approx. June 04 2011, originating in Ontario (near Hamilton) and had expected to cross into the US at either the International Falls crossing or due south of Winnipeg on rte 75. Our touring was to include the northern midwestern states hopefully from Minnesota to Montana and states south on our return (then crossing back into Ontario at either Detroit or Buffalo). We have no true set plans, much as our trips in the past.
Our obvious concerns are the intense flooding with has been happening in almost all the areas we intend to venture through and the serious issues that continues to occur.
I have had and continue to have great difficulty finding a definitive source of information and/or data to plot any type of route. Should we select another option for our trip? Last year with travelled through 16 states east of the Mississippi to the Atlantic and were hoping to not repeat our travels. Any suggestions, advice or direction for data would be greatly appreciated.

    Try this site: www.viamichelin.com

Enter your trip details in the journey planner, and it should show you weather/hazard conditions applicable currently (but I don't know how good it will be for predicting a few weeks ahead). However, you are planning to drive through some well populated areas, so any road damage will be dealt with quickly to allow life to go on for the locals. Enjoy! over 9 years ago

Thank you Bonnita for the link and your great advice. As we are so flexible in our plans, I will wait until closer to our intended departure date to enter our trip plans per your suggestion and the link/site you indicated.
Thank you again. Greatly appreciated. over 9 years ago
