Hi Bec, Katrina from WorldNomads.com here. Travelling in the USA rocks, particularly as the Aussie dollar goes so much further these days!

Unfortunately, it's not possible once your policy has started to change the cover to include the USA. That's a great feature that we'll consider adding in the future.

If you want to visit the USA on your existing policy, then unfortunately you wont be covered for any incidents in the USA. So, here are a few options for you:

    1. If you are planning to travel to the USA in the future, you can buy a new policy to include the USA, starting the day after your current policy expires. You wont be able to upgrade when you extend your existing policy, but you can buy a new one and get an automatic discount as a World Nomads member.

    2. If you want to travel in the USA before your current policy expires, then you can purchase a "including USA" policy just for the short time that you are in the USA. If anything happens while in the USA, you can then make a claim on the "including USA" policy.

We do understand that travel plans change, however for future reference, if you had known you were travelling to the USA from the beginning, you could have purchased a policy to include this country policy from day 1. It may be a little more expensive at the outset, as medical expenses in the USA, Canada and Japan can be huge (up to $10,000 per day), however at least you know you're covered if you do change your mind. Hope you're having an awesome trip. Safe travels. over 9 years ago
