Jim i don't know what the cheapest hotel is, i always stay at the Paris hotel as the location is great, i also have stayed at the Luxor hotel for about 35 a night which was a good deal (midweek) . Rates are very cheap everywhere at present in Vegas. Try this site for the cheap Vegas deals http://www.vegashotels247.com/ almost 7 years ago

I stayed in the Stratosphere at the north of the strip. Its a landmark, if you've seen programmes of Las Vegas, you've seen it since its where the tall tower is that stands above everything else in the connecting building with an observation deck. I was on a budget package land trip so it must not have been that expensive. It is considered more old Las Vegas just north of the more trendy part of the strip but its adequate and has two rooftop swimming pools. If you want to avoid casinos, this hotels whole lobby is filled with slot machines (common in hotels in Las Vegas) but you can avoid temptation & just walk past them.

Yer the Imperial Palace is a good place, the rooms are a little tired but the casino is really lively. They have a great happy hour in the evening too ! Location is great also, try the site Mark suggested they have the Imperial Place from USD 23 per night. http://www.vegashotels247.com/ almost 7 years ago

My best experience has been at the Monte Cristo. While all accommodations are first class, at $60 bucks a night (look for specials) it is an amazing deal. Not necessarily the cheapest, but excellent location and amenities for the price. over 6 years ago

Living close to vegas I get the opportunity to go a lot, with that said. New York new York has been the nicest/cheapest hotel I have stayed at. There is lots to do within the hotel so you will never have to worry about finding good food and something fun to do. The hotel is right on the strip next Excalibur and MGM. The hotel also shows inside, last time I saw a show there they had la reve: it was beyond fantastic. I have stayed in tons of hotels there, avoid anything north of treasure island and Wynn despite the prices. New york new York is easily one of my favorite hotels because it's fun and affordable. over 6 years ago
