I will be in New York and while I'm there I would like to take the chance and see one of the Broadway shows. Where can I buy tickets? Are there differences in price - weekday/weekend?

Anita, the best place to look first for tickets to Broadway is on Ticketmaster. http://www.ticketmaster.com/broadway

If you find that a show you want to see is sold out, or the seats you want to purchase are not available then you would have to go to the secondary market which would be sites like StubHub.com or TicketsNow.com

Hope i'm not too late. THE BEST place to purchase tickets in NYC at a discount is at "tkts" it's on Broadway in the 40'. Get there early and the selection is vast. BRING CASH- no credit cards. The plays are listed right before they open. They usually are on sale in the am, but on matinee days they have two selling times.
ALso, ask where the tickets are located. sometimes they are fabulous seats given up and other times they may have an obstructed view. I've often asked for the best seats available for the listed performances. over 11 years ago

If you're a student, you can go to the show of interest the day of and buy "student rush" tickets. Not the best seats in the house, but very cheap! over 11 years ago

For popular shows like Wicked and such, places like "tkts" don't carry these tickets. So like Brian said, you've got to go through a secondary ticket broker. In the past, I've used Celebrity Seats (http://www.celebrityseats.com) with great results! almost 11 years ago
