Tony's and Geno's are great as well as Patt's, across from Geno's in South Philly. As a preference, these places have the same taste the only noticeable differences is the texture if the meat: Patt's dice theirs, Geno's leaves the thin slabs intact, and Tony's is in between.

Truth be told, if you are from out of town, anywhere in the city will give you the Authentic Cheesesteak experience - so long as you don't go putting red sauce on it. :) Truth be told, the best one if the $100 Kobe Beef Cheesesteak at Butcher and Singer on Walnut over 7 years ago

Years ago, I would have said Pat's. Today, I would have to say Tony Luke's. Geno's was never in the running. And Jim's? Blech. Stay away. Tony Luke's is IT. over 7 years ago

Actually if you're from Philly you wouldn't be caught dead at geno's or pat's- they're disgusting/tourist traps. Phil's steaks on passyunk ave. Not much scenery just a south philly view. Also pulled pork place near Columbus blvd. By the ikea. Amazing. over 6 years ago

Pat's and Geno's are the most famous, but in my opinion, Jim's on South Street are the best in the city. I've tried all three and I crave Jim's every time I'm back in town. Do yourself a favor, though, and always get whiz! It's not a real Philly steak without it! over 5 years ago
