I have booked the flights and now we need to find out where to go and what to do while we are there... I have started a blog about my trip and would love some ideas for where to visit (looking for off the grid locations that are not to be missed)
We are a family of 4 (kids 8 + 9 when we travel) from Denmark
Please take a look and help me plan :)
Near Death Valley: Red Rock Canyon State Park is a beautiful place for car camping. On your way across the Central Valley, Carrizo Plain National Monument is one of my favorite places in the whole state. Calaveras Big Tree State Park outside Yosemite to see old groves of sequoias, as well as the living history gold rush town of Columbia State Historic Park (kid friendly). On your way to SF, make sure to stop at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Ano Nuevo State Park is also nice. In SF: Golden Gate Park (botanical and Japanese tea gardens, Ocean Beach, CA Academy of Sciences), Exploratorium (hands on science museum), hike in the Presidio or Lands End (look for the labyrinth). North of SF: Point Reyes National Seashore (Palomarin Trail, Limanour Beach) October is one of the best months for that area, so enjoy! about 2 years ago
