Are there any tricks to doing Vegas on a budget (and still having heaps of fun)? Are there particular times / places to go if I don't have a lot of cash?

Try finding flights on southwest.com airlines-- they often have the best deals. If you're willing to stay during the week you can also find really good hotel deals. almost 12 years ago

The cheapest place to stay on the Strip is usually the Tropicana hotel and Casino. Last month I stayed there for $25 per night! It's on the Strip, so location-wise it's perfect, and the hotel might not be one of the greatest on the strip but it's still pretty good. And from there you can walk pretty much to any other casino and have a great time. almost 12 years ago

Hotels are generally cheaper on the weekdays, and you should try to avoid Nascar weekend, PMA, CES and other big events as the hotels are more expensive.

There are numerous ways to stay on the cheap - you could, of course, stay off the strip, but then again, your will probably need to spend more on taxi. After reading a lot about Vegas (been there once) I would say Luxor, New York, New York and Treasure Island are probably the best bang-for-the-buck deals on the strip where you get a good quality hotel at a decent price.

I would recommend the Lonely Planet guidebook to Las Vegas. I found a lot of money-saving tips there, for example having a drink at Mix at THEhotel which gives you the second best view of the strip for free, buying show tickets at Tix4Less with good discounts etc.

Also, check out Kayak.com for the best flight and hotel deals. almost 12 years ago

Go to www.lasvegas.com for the best deals. I ended up paying 16$ for a double room in downtown vegas. The hotel (Plaza) was really good and had a great dinner buffet for 7.77$. Hotels and food are generally very cheap as they want to make you spend your money at their casino. You get free cocktails as well if you play (or pretend to play) on the slot machines. Tips are appreciated though.
There is a train going from downtown to the strip as I reckon the strip will be a bit more expensive.

Don't stay at the Circus Circus except if you bring your family along. It is nice to have a look at but mainly for kids. almost 12 years ago

Vegas can definitely be done a a budget... stick to downtown area, which is really popular among 20somethings - you're still close to the strip and can go there to party, but the accommodations are not as glamorous. Since you wont be doing a lot of sleeping anyway, you can put the money you save into everything else Vegas has to offer.:) almost 12 years ago

You can always check kayak.com and expedia, also sign up for bookingbuddy and you can find airfare and hotel together for $200 total sometimes. The monorail is cheap to use if you stay outside, but if you stay on the strip, you can walk everywhere. If you want to do shows, there are preshow websites that all you have to do is print out a pass and you can get to the front of the line of the lower ticket prices all over Vegas. Play slots and you get free drinks, play pennies and you when a few dollars, but you spend very little. almost 12 years ago

try bookit.com as well. I've found that if you book the time off and try to buy a package deal 1-2 weeks before you go, you can get really good deals.

If you go on weekdays you can save a lot on the hotels. On Sun to Thur there are many deals.

To find deals in Las Vegas for both flights and hotels do this:

    1. Start your search at the "Travel Search Engine" at BestTravelCoupon.com
    2. Visit Kayak.com to confirm if the above has the lowest rates.

These 2 sites use different search tools but they check just about every available flight and hotel deal in the world (including Las Vegas).

You can also check the "Las Vegas Page" on the Amazon Deals site. Here is the link:

Just scroll to the bottom to see all of the deals they have on this site. about 8 years ago
