I am a US citizen living permanently in Australia. Do I need a travel insurance policy to travel to the US for 3 weeks this May?
I am not sure if I should buy travel insurance
To visit my own country- since I am no longer living in the US
Hi Andienicole, Kellie here from WorldNomads.com.
If you are living permanently in Australia, then you can buy a travel insurance policy to cover your travels to the US in May if you wish to be covered for such things as Overseas Medical expenses , repatriation back to Australia, Pre-Trip Cancellation and Baggage just to name a few benefits. As a permanent resident of Australia (as per definition below), you will be covered under this policy while in the US regardless of the fact that you are a US citizen.
To qualify as an Australian resident, you must be a citizen or holder of a residency visa and have all of the following in your home country
1.unlimited and unconditional right of entry;
2.access to long-term medical care (e.g. national health cover or private health cover.
3.you will be repatriated back to to Australia if you’re unable to continue your trip and you require ongoing medical care at home; and
4.a permanent residential address.
do Hope this helps but if you have any specific insurance questions, please ask our service team directly who will be more than happy to help: https://www.worldnomads.com/contactus.aspx
