Disney parks will overwhelm you if you don't do research first. I suggest The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World ($15 on Amazon). Map out your plans in advance or time will disappear all too quickly! over 7 years ago

If family trip, go to Magic Kingdom first. If with friends and want adventure, Islands of Adventure (wherr Harry Potter is located), Universal Studios and maybe Epcot (Disney) and do drinks around the world. If going with kids, Islands of Adventure might be boring since most of the rides have height restrictions, Magic Kingdom is great if going with kids. over 7 years ago

There's absolutely no competition between Universal Studios and Walt Disney World when it comes to theme parks. But where you go vastly depends on your idea of fun. Universal is packed with rollercoasters and thrill rides whereas the 4 Disney parks are a mixture of Shows, Thrill Rides, scenery and incredible atmosphere.

Magic Kingdom - the very first Disney World Park is definitely more about the atmosphere and magic that is Disney rather than the Roller Coaster. This is great for Kids under 10 and anyone who isn't a huge Roller Coaster fan. There is Space Mountain and Thunder Railroad but they are old and are more about nostalgia than actual thrill. Splash Mountain is not a Roller Coaster - it has one big drop and that's it but it is, hands down, the best ride in the park.

EPCOT - Epcot is about innovation and virtual reality and there are no roller coasters here at all. But there are incredible attractions - Mission Space, Soarin, Test Track, etc. There is also an incredible World Show case in the back of the park where you can spend hours and hours 'Travelling the World."

Hollywood Studios (Previously MGM) - is perfect for Teens and young adults are love the thrill rides. This is where you will find Hollywood Tower of Terror, Rockin Roller Coaster and Star Tours. Also - loads of fun parades and the best (in my opinion) night show of all 4 parks. (Fantasmic)

Animal Kingdom - the newest of the 4 parks and a truly unique adventure. Excellent for all ages and unlike anything you've ever experienced. Between Safaris, Festival of the Lion King and it's Tough to be a Bug - these are some of my favorite attractions in Disney. Also - Mt. Evererst opened about 4 years ago and it's one of the best roller coasters I've ever been on. Although it's the only one in this park.

And for places to stay, you can't go past any of the http://www.staysky.com/hotels-resorts/ hotels. Not sure how many people you have travelling about 7 years ago

My tips on thrill rides and snacks at all the Orlando Disney parks plus Universal / Wizarding World of Harry Potter are here : https://traveleater.wordpress.com/2011/11/22/florida-disneyworld-the-wizarding-world-of-harry-potter/

If I had to choose only one park to go to I think it would be Animal Kingdom. But that will change when the new Harry Potter expansion opens! about 7 years ago

Discovery Cove - swim with the dolphins - it's expensive but worth it. You need to make reservations quite far in advance. over 6 years ago

Between Universal Studios and Walt Disney World, it all depends on your style. My family and I are Disney fanatics so I'm partial to the Disney Parks.

Magic Kingdom - This is mostly for little ones. If you want a fun family day without booze and roller coasters. They have Space Mountain and Thunder railroad, but my favorite is Splash Mountain.

Epcot - I've only been here to drink around the world when one of my kiddos got older. They rides include Mission Space, Soarin, and Test Track. It shows the great cultures of the world with delicious food so if you're a foodie be sure to stop here.

MGM - This is the place for the BIG rides like my personal favorites Hollywood Tower of Terror, Rockin Roller Coaster and Star Tours.

Animal Kingdom - Again, mostly for the little ones if you're into Safaris and lots of animal fun, this is the place to be.

Universal Studios offers an awesome Mummy Rollercoaster, Dr. Suess world, Simpsons virtual reality ride, King Kong terror ride, and the Jaws. If you get a two day pass you can head over to ISlands of Adventure to ride the Hulk.

If you're looking for a place to stay, we've always stayed here http://www.hawthornlakebuenavista.com/hotel-suites/
