That is an unanswerable question without some qualifications: age, interest, budget, transportation, length of stay. There is NO once, or even two or 3 "best" places. I'm surprised you would ask the question that way. over 5 years ago

ok- I'm new here and wasnt sure how this worked.. to clarify.

a girl friend and I are planning a girls week in LA. we need somewhere safe, reasonably priced and near to the main tourist spots. we plan on using public transport where possible as neither of us are keen on driving in the states! we plan on staying a week or so and travelling in October. so any help would be much appreciated. over 5 years ago

I would look for hotels in Santa Monica; close to the beach and also lots of restaurants and clubs, etc. LA is BIG: if you don't want to drive check that your hotel has pick-up arrangements with tour buses to the places you want to visit. Mass transit is not a tourism option given the distances involved. over 5 years ago

I'm guessing you've never been to LA? I'm not an expert - but have been enough times to let you... LA is huge! It's massive, and without your own car - it would be pretty difficult to move around. // pick a beach town like Santa Monica, Venice, Manhattan, Hermosa and enjoy over 5 years ago
