    Do NOT backpack in Chicago. One of the highest crime rate cities in the US. Try backpacking in a national park or the mountains or perhaps Montana or Colorado. Unless you intentionally want to look like a homeless person in a large, cold, crime infested place - then by all means, backpack in The Windy City. about 5 years ago

    Thanks Lizzy. I found a place but it was not the cheapest and a bit out of the way. Stayed in a hotel in The Loop that was not much more costly. I found the place to be awesome, I only had 3 days there but would have stayed longer if possible. Damn work!

    I really did enjoy HI-Chicago everytime that I stayed with them. It is quite a big establishment right in the middle of Chicago Loop and as far as US goes, one of the best run large hostel I have ever stayed in. Each room has high ceiling and are well ventilated. almost 5 years ago

    I had a very great experience while travel to chicago city. Spend a cool time with my family and friends, once you know the basic ideas about the places to enjoy, famous hotels and restaurants etc. Great Place ! http://www.joguru.com/chicago-united-states/addas/ almost 5 years ago
