if you have never been to Maui's Hana Coast, I would recommend the Van Drive because the drivers stop at most popular Waterfalls, State Parks, Snack shops on the way to Hana and will tell you a lot of History and explain everything you see? There are several Van Companies: Polynesian Adventure Tours, Valley Isle Tours and few others....
I would also recommend doing a Helicopter Tour over Hana without all the driving and it only takes 1 hour aerial tour unless you wanna get wet in one of the swimming pools :)
If you ever really want to experience Hana, I would recommend stay 1-2 nights in Hana Town at Hotel Hana Ranch Sea Cottages are the Bomb! operated by Travaassa....

I also recommend a van with driver. There are so many turns in the road that you wouldn't have time to enjoy the scenery, which is spectacular. over 5 years ago

Do not drive yourself. You will spend all your time watching the twists and turns. If you do go on the bus, stay overnight. Otherwise, you are on the bus all day. Unless you are in Maui for more than a week, I would skip the trip to Hana. There are many other more accessible sights to keep you busy. over 5 years ago
