Take a Helicopter Tour of the Particular Island you will be at, great way to get oriented with any Island you happen to be visiting :) Helicopter Doors Off is my recommendation on Maui, Kauai or Big Island B-) over 5 years ago

If you're flying into HNL you'll have about enough time to take a cab to the city, get a good meal and see the beach. Hopefully you'll be there during the day!

It's not the best beach, but the best place to see the most things is probably Waikiki. Walk around, see the Royal Hawaiian hotel, check out the beach, buy a lei. Swimming in Waikiki is pretty decent too, the water is shallow and warm, and there should be lifeguards. You can even rent a board and go surfing.

Restaurants that are worth going to if you can only go to one: Sushi Sasabune, very high quality, authentic, expensive. Chiang Mai is great Thai food on king street, Akasaka is great Japanese food and great sushi at a more reasonable price than Sasabune. Call ahead, as most Asian restaurants close in the middle of the day, or on Mondays, or just have weird hours. Don't bother eating any traditional American or Italian food, it is likely to be mediocre. Good luck! Aloha! about 5 years ago
