    No you do not, although there are some roads that are "toll" roads and you will have to pay as you go. Check any good map app to find out if the roads you are planning to travel may be toll roads. Additionally, there are no "check points" as you cross the border from one state to the next. Remember this is one big country made up of different states, unlike Europe which has many different countries. Enjoy you trip ! over 5 years ago

    I agree to all the answers so far, nope you don't have o pay. But (1) depending on where you are going, and how far you are driving - your rental car (if you are renting) will/may limit you. Check that out when you rent (2) the "rules of the road" do vary state-to-state. For example (10/2012) it is illegal to text/use a cell phone while driving in California - but not in Texas (with exception). But don't let this stop you! over 5 years ago
