San Antonio for a day and then to Port Aransas, Aransas Pass, Corpus Christi for wind surfing, beach combing and fishing the flats. You will have more fun catching more fish with a guide in the flats than on a deep sea charter. It is more expensive than a charter but well worth it! Depending on your budget, even surf lessons available, but for no cost fun, the beach on Port Aransas! about 8 years ago

Depends. It's a big state. If you will be up in the Panhandle part, (between New Mexico and Oklahoma, go to Palo Duro Canyon, Spectacular, and you would never guess from what you see on the Interstate that there is anything like it nearby. Lots of hiking opportunities. Take the kids to the Big Texan Steak Ranch. Touristy but worth it, especially for kids, and the food is actually fairly good. Depending on their ages, they might enjoy horseback riding at the Palo Duro stables, which has trails that go into the canyon. Panhandle Plains Museum in the town of Canyon has fantastic exhibits for both kids and grownups. over 7 years ago

Best"Texas" experience is in panhandle, hill country near Austin or in Bandera dude ranches near San Antonio. Not hokey and they get to do a lot. Austin has good live music. South Texas coast is great. Houston and Dallas are huge cities with lots for teens. Houston has space center which my sons loved. East Texas is a completely different area with giant lakes forests and alligators. over 7 years ago
