What are some top things to do, that maybe locals do more of in Seattle, WA. Just moved here and feel like a tourist.
Have you gone down to Pike Place market? It's popular among tourists but many locals there too. We are from Vancouver but have visited Seattle often. Walking around downtown can help you soak things in. There is also a new free walking tour of Seattle where you just tip the guide. Google it and it will help you with some history. I've also done the boat cruise around Lake Union and Lake Washington which gives you a little Seattle history and takes you by the Sleepless in Seattle house and Bill Gates' place. Maybe not the answer you were looking for but hope it helps. Otherwise, check out a local sports team in action, thousands of locals there :) almost 6 years ago
As in any new community, the best way to become part of the community is to join up with people who like doing the things you like to do. So, find an affinity group of like-minded people and sign up. You might want to sign up for MeetUp, too. Seattle is a very outdoor-oriented town, and many locals are into biking, hiking and boating. If you're so included, you can sign up to row on lake union with the rowing club once or twice a week. The club is at the north end of Lake Union, where Aqua Verde is. You can do just it for fun/fitness -- no need to enter any competitions. Can do in early mornings and/or in the evenings. People of all ages and fitness levels participate. If you're single, a good way to meet people is to hang out in coffee shops in Belltown, Ballard, Freemont, Capitol Hill. Also, there are many farmers' markets in the summertime, in various communities. A really good one is in the University District on Sat. And on the East Side, in Kirkland, you can rent stand-up paddleboards at Houghton Beach Park. The water is calm there, and it's lots of fun (if you have good balance and fairly decent quad muscles). almost 6 years ago
