There isn't much near the airport. For drinks Scott & Co on Scott street is pretty cool for well made and slightly unique cocktails. Opposite there is a hip pizza restaurant with a decent bar also.
Cafe Poka Cosa (spelling?) is close to that area, no awesome local restaurant featuring great margaritas and food. Though big food, and really best to experience with friends. They have some fantastic art on the walls from a local famous artist.
During the say, Sabino Canyon is awesome for desert scenery, but it's far from where you are staying. It's right on the North East side of town.
For funky coffee there is Epic Cafe on 4th ave.. Kinda a hippy coffee shop with good coffee and sometimes live music, and open mic nights.
Best coffee is at Raging Sage on Campbell ave, just north of Speedway on the east side of the road.. Sitting right next to a head shop. It has a neat little patio.
Hotel Congress downtown on Congress street has a decent restaurant and bar scene, often with live music or DJ's.
4th ave is cool and funky with bars, cheap eats, hippy shops and head shops. Some bars more of a college crowd.
More upscale places are north at La Encantada, which is also good for shopping.
Tucson really has a lot to offer, with so many places to choose from.
