The Magnificent Mile is where most of the shops are. It's a lovely stretch of Michigan Avenue and the side blocks have lots of boutiques, so don't overlook those. Millennium Park is lovely ( don't miss seeing and reflecting in The Bean). Lot of walking tours, don't know of a specific company but make sure it's one with an architectural focus. Some combine th architecture with a boat ride down the river, which is unique.

Restaurants:Girl and the goat, blackbird, and look up the restaurant run by Rick Bayless, it's a fab Mexican place, but can't recall the name.

Great recommendations. Topalabompo is Rick Bayless' restaurant which is fantastic but really hard to get a reservation so call today. Also went to Spiaggia last night and had one of the most amazing meals of my life. Seriously, it was that good. Cut was an excellent steakhouse and of course you can check out Gibson's for a Gibson martini where they were invented. almost 9 years ago
