Stay in the Boulder area. The flatirons are a nice place to hike. Denver is a short drive and there's a lot to do there. The Denver Mint, 16th Street Mall, you could probably catch a Rockies game, etc. If you check out the capital, there's a step in front that tells you when you're a mile high which is cool. Estes Park is nice for going to the mountains or you could make the drive to a ski resort like Winter Park or my personal favorite, Breckenridge. Both have summer activities at the base and nice towns for shopping and eating. If you're looking for tours, I personally like the Celestial Seasonings tea tour which is in Boulder. almost 9 years ago

Since you'll be in Boulder anyway, you can always take a short drive to the Rocky Mountain National Park and take a short hike around Bear Lake. almost 9 years ago

I live in Estes Park, and there are plenty of activities for teens. Just make sure to drink lots of water and don't over-exert yourselves for the first two days due to the altitude. over 8 years ago
