Cycling in the US?

almost 9 years ago about United States

My bf and I are planning a road trip through the US. We kind of have a tight budgets so we are thinking of bringing our bikes so we won't have to use our car (and gas!) too often as a means of exploring. Is this viable for most states? We are thinking most of the west coast then across thorough the mid/southwest and up the east coast.

Absolutely it is. I know a lot of cyclists' that do what you do without any problems. As a matter of fact, they travel by car and sightsee by bike. almost 9 years ago

Yes, the West coast especially is bike friendly. I recommend wearing helmets, most people here do. But the US is big and locations are spread out. If you want to see many places you'll have to drive as well. Small towns usually have cheaper hotels and you can buy food in grocery stores to save money. almost 9 years ago

Biking is good in most places but in others it can be dangerous, be mindful of butt heads in cars who don't car about cyclists. Also keep gem locked up and secure when not in use, I've had many bikes stolen before! almost 9 years ago
