Oh! There is so much to do in Michigan.
In Grand Rapids, head to the Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park - it's an incredible experience (eat at One Stop Coney Shop).

Along the Sunset Coast (west side, Lake Michigan), there are many beautiful beaches and small towns worth discovering (my favorite is Saugatuck).

Up in Traverse City, there are tons of cultural events, beaches, wineries, great food, family fun.

Both Ann Arbor (UM) and East Lansing (MSU) have great college campuses, sporting and cultural events, and of course good food.

Visiting Mackinac Island (right off the top of the lower peninsula) is an out-of-time experience. Great jazz at the Grand Hotel, no cars, ride bikes around the island, eat fudge!

In the Upper Peninsula, you probably won't swim as much (cold water!) but the scenery (and smoked fish) are delightful.

And then there is Detroit - so many great museums, cultural events, excellent food, shopping.

Charlevoix area is beautiful. Walk the beaches starting in town and head north or there are 3 public beaches in town. Sleeping bear dunes should not be missed near Traverse City. Check out the Jordan river canoe rentals or go for a large boat ride out of Charlevoix. Hiking trails are everywhere. over 6 years ago

Mich. is totally a peninsula state comprised of both an upper peninsula and lower peninsula. We are surrounded by the Great Lakes and we have thousands of lakes in both peninsulas. Boating, swimming, fishing, and a myriad
of other activities associated with beautiful lakes are here. We have beautiful sunrises and sunsets, all on lakes with crystal clear waters. No, I don't belong to the Tourist Board. Enjoy! almost 5 years ago
