Looking for good fishing holes to explore this spring

I have always fished in Roxbury Pond (as locals call it), or Ellis Pond on maps. It's near Andover Maine, in the Northwest corner of the state, close to Bethel and the New Hampshire border. Don't let the 'pond' name deter you; it's a large enough lake with river inlets to kayak or canoe on to fish. I've not been, but I have heard the Belgrades (a chain of seven lakes) are amazing. almost 8 years ago

The Belgrade Lakes are great fishing and one of the most delightful camps to stay in all of Maine is Castle Island Camp. They book up early but you never know when they'll have a cancellation. They have small classic cabins with screen doors right on the water and a small dining hall that serves three meals a day. Rental boats and motors are available along with fishing gear, etc. friendly people, good food, good fishing what's not to like!? over 6 years ago
