Am planning a trip to LA. Have about a week. Any suggestions as to places around LA worth visiting?
Have been to Disneyland, Universal Studies and Hollywood. Looking for things around LA which are generally kid friendly.

You could always try Knotts Berry Farm if you're looking for theme parks or you could perhaps do a studio tour at Warner Bros (http://www2.warnerbros.com/vipstudiotour/);
otherwise its around 100 miles to San Diego where you could look at Sea World, San Diego Zoo and the Old Town San Diego Historic Park. about 11 years ago -
Nice chunk of time to explore the area. I go fairly often and never tire of Runyon canyon in the Hollywood hills for a stint of hiking amongst LAs beautiful people and their dogs. Great views of the Hollywood sign and downtown LA. Allow 2 hours for that
I'm a big fan of Abbott Kinney area near Venice beach area: trendy boutiques, stores, restaurants and people watching.
The Getty Museum is a gem in Brentwood with great views of downtown and lots of permanent and rotating collections. Good for kids too-check out their websitee for a calendar of events.
If you can do a historical walking tour of japan town, it's a entertaining and infomative and near other good neighborhoods in downtown to explore such as Union Station (good market food stalls and kid-friendly.)
The Grove is an outdoor 'mall' that seems to priwnt itself to kids-archades, movies, shops and outddoor entertainment.
Of course, the beaches are always good fun for the kids. Santa Monica pier is a fave.
