What would be the preferable stops heading to London from Edinburgh?
I will go by train and want to stop in between, I guess Newcastle is worth visiting and York, what about Leeds? Any recommendations (also what would be worth visiting in the specific places)?

York Minster is quite something. Go to pray and you won't need to pay the entry fee but by the time you're leaving the voice of God and awesome spectacle will convince you to donate on the way out. over 11 years ago

Go to York, there is a cool street there with crooked buildings, also go to the museum that is near the hill with the little castle on it. I wouldn't bother with Leeds as its just a big city, however there are some nice places not to far away from Leeds (Bingley - you can see the 5 locks in the canal, there are some markets at Keighley, the Yorkshire dales etc). The lakes district is also very nice if the train goes near there. over 11 years ago

I would stop off in Cambridge - if only to wander round and look at the architecture and the River Cam.
Agree with York Minster - it simply is stunning. over 11 years ago -

If it goes through Manchester there's plenty to see and do there for a couple of days. over 11 years ago
