Whats the best way to travel around in Scotland?
I'm planning to visit Scotland in summer for 12 days. Whats the best way to travel around within the country? To rent a car, travel by bus, train, etc.?

Oh bonnie Scotland. :-)
If you have the budget, then I would definitely hire a car. Whist the train and bus service are pretty good, you have a limited time and quite a large area to cover, so a car will make it more flexible for you.
In the more remote areas, such as in the Highlands, there may only be one local bus a day, so you could spend a lot of time trying to get around.

If you wanted to join an organised tour, I have heard good things about:

If you plan to stay in the south of Scotland you can youse the bus or the train. When you plan your holiday´s in the Highlands it´s mutch better you hire a care.
Because there not so many conections between the villages. And you spend a lot of time with waiting.
I stey 1 month in Scotland, and I have a care. This was the best decision for me. over 10 years agoAnswered by Helga viaTravellr.com
